A wave of what if
A poem by Sean Kathryn Bratton

It hurts less
But every now and then something reminds me
A wave of what if crashes into me
I’m left sinking to the bottom of the ocean
Gasping for air
Hands clenched
The pain numbs my existence
I can’t find the air to breathe
You’re nowhere to be found
Your absence all consuming me
