It’s just where us wild girls go to run
A poem by Sean Kathryn Bratton
I grip beneath me, arching like a cat. I’ve reached out of body, my lines are flat.
It’s a good possibility it’s not you, it’s a good possibility I’m just confused. It’s a good possibility I made it all up, it’s a good possibility I’m that out of touch.
It’s a good possibility the electricity was happenstance, it’s a good possibility I never felt beneath your pants.
Sure, I like to hallucinate for fun, it’s just where us wild girls go to run.
But with every linger, with every rise, with every timber our universe collides.
I feel it flow down my stomach, I feel it trickle up my chest, I feel it rise to meet my throat, I feel it drench me soaking wet.
It coils when it reaches my eyes, it makes me lose all taste and sight. I become what feels like hypnotized, I crave it all day and every night.
It reaches my dome and then I come home. Lightening strikes, cows are flying, snakes are hissing, my earth is crying.
I grip beneath me, arching like a cat. I’ve reached out of body, my lines are flat. Color takes over, my wildest dreams are true. I’m dancing in the fields, I’m swinging high with you.
I’m vibrating electricity through every cell, it radiates out like a heaven sent spell. You crumble under me, you melt at the sight. You smell me good, you devour’d me right. Ecstasy in your veins, designed to make you feel this way.
Like toes touching Jamaica’s shoreline, like a baby on the nip, you feel relief and freedom every time that you dip.
But back to me, this is my hallucination. This is my magic factory, this is my candy station.
This is my island, but I brought you along. This is my game, this is my song. Join me if you will, join me for a fix. Join me if you will, but bring your disco stick.
