My eyes deceive me, I trained them so
A poem by Sean Kathryn Bratton
I no longer look for you..
I can’t believe it’s being said
I no longer look for you..
Almost as if you’re dead
God, my mind goes from white to black so easily
I can’t turn it off, it’s my greatest enemy
What’s the point in searching, I’ll never be satisfied
You’re here, you’re there, you’re everywhere
You live inside my eyes
My eyes deceive me, I trained them so
Maybe I just want to see you, so then there I go
I stopped searching, searching would mean you’re lost
You’re far from lost from what I can see
You’re the ruler and the boss
Or is it me, am I the ruler?
Is this my power l’ve been bestowed?
I think it is, how funny I freely give you all the credit
But it’s mine, truth be told
I know it’s mine, I’m playing games
Why do I do this to myself
You’re just a boy, a silly boy
I hold the magic spell
My mind is such a crafty deceiver, making me think it’s you
I can turn you into a frog, the same way I make these songs about you
Every song reminds me of you, because I make it so
I project my magic onto you, as if you’re a one man show
So I stopped searching, you’re within me forever, like it or not
It’s me, I know. I’m the one man show
Me, my mind, and heart
